Hey folks, check this out!
THE BASEBALL HALL OF SHAME ANNOUNCES THE FIRST ANNUAL “BLOOPERSTOWN ALL-STAR TEAM”
Nominations Begin Thursday, June 28
Winners Announced During All-Star Break
Hollywood, Calif. – It’s that time of year again when baseball fans across the country vote for the best and the brightest - the All-Stars. For the players that don’t make the cut, Bruce Nash and Allan Zullo, co-authors of the outrageous new book The Baseball Hall of Shame: The Best of Blooperstown (Lyons Press), announce the First Annual “Blooperstown All-Star Team.”
Since the game’s inception, the national pastime has provided fans with a never-ending supply of embarrassingly nutty moments. And, as historians of the offbeat side of sports, Nash and Zullo have paid homage to the Major Leagues’ zaniest characters, funniest plays, and head-scratchingest moments in their new book. With the All-Star game around the corner, it’s time for baseball fanatics to nominate their picks for the game’s funniest plays, goofs and gaffes, and blown calls. Nominations can be sent to blooperstown@nashentertainment.com. The winners will be announced during the All-Star Break.
Whether they’re an All-Star or a journeyman, every ballplayer is capable on any given day of a ridiculous misplay, worthy of inclusion in the Baseball Hall of Shame. Dodger Jerry Hairston, Jr. made his bid for the Hall of Shame for Zaniest Spring Training Shenanigan earlierthis year when he tried to blow a ball foul (lat.ms/KieWPy) and Atlanta Braves outfielder Michael Bourn likely put his name into the mix for delaying a game for a potty break. If they are selected to the “Blooperstown All-Star Team,” Hairston and Bourn would join the ranks of such greats as Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, Ken Griffey Jr. and David “Big Papi” Ortiz, who have already staked their claim to shame in Nash and Zullo’s book.
